What's an Indian eVisa?

Since the entire process is done online, you can fill the form and make the visa payment online, and the visa will be sent to you by email once approved. It's travel planning made simple and hassle-free.
India welcomes visitors from over 171 nations that are eligible for the eVisa system.
What Happens If Your Country Is Not in the 171 Countries?
If your country is not on that list, there is no need to worry. If your country isn't eligible for an eVisa, you may still be able to visit India. In such a case, you can submit a form for a standard visa by going to your closest Indian embassy or consulate. It might take a bit more time and paperwork, but the treasures of India will be worth it!
Types of Indian eVisas and the Validity Periods
The kind of eVisa you apply for will determine how long you can stay. There are 5 types of Indian eVisas available:
Tourist eVisa
30-day Tourist eVisa
This quick trip visa is perfect for short Indian trips. It's valid for 30 days from the day you arrive in India and you are allowed two entries.
1-year Tourist eVisa
If you want to visit India for a longer period, a 1-year Tourist eVisa is the option. The visa is valid for one year and multiple entries are allowed. However, your stay can only last up to ninety days at a time.
5-year Tourist eVisa
There is also a 5-year Tourist eVisa available for those who want to keep visiting for a long term. This visa permits multiple entries and has a full 5-year validity period. Again, you can stay for a maximum of 90 days per visit.
Exception: If you're a citizen of the USA, UK, Japan, or Canada, you are allowed to stay for up to 180 days continuously on each visit.
Business eVisa
This visa is specifically for those who need to travel to India for normal business. A business eVisa can be used more than once during its 1-year validity. You can stay for 180 days continuously on each visit.
Medical eVisa
Medical eVisa is a short-term visa with a validity of 60 days. This visa is for the purpose of getting medical treatment in India. Its validity starts from the day you arrive and allows three entries for follow-up appointments.
Medical Attendant eVisa
Similar to the medical eVisa, the medical attendant eVisa is also valid for 60 days from your first day in India. This visa is for an attendant with a patient and only two attendants are allowed per patient. You can get this visa three times a year.
Transit eVisa
Transit eVisa is a quick-stop visa that's valid for just 15 days from the date it was issued. You are allowed to stay in India for only three days per visit and it allows double entry.
No matter which eVisa you select, your passport must be in effect for a minimum of six months right from the date you are planning to reach India. Also, apply at least 7 days before your trip. It gives you enough time to manage if your application approval is delayed or you need to reapply.
